Fiber plays a vital role in your pet’s daily diet. Our Young Again pet foods include three types of fiber, carefully balanced for maximum results.
The first, and probably best known, is crude fiber. It consists primarily of plant cell walls found in grain, vegetables, and grass. Crude fiber is often listed on animal food packaging as oats or other types of bran, beet pulp, tomato pomace or cellulose. Although dogs and cats don’t digest crude fiber, when it is added to their food it can regulate their digestion and ensure firmer stools.
The second type is soluble fiber, found in fruits such as apples and tomatoes, and seeds such as chia. Psyllium, guar gum and tomato pomace (which contains both crude and soluble fiber) are commonly-used soluble fibers. Soluble fibers dissolve in water and form a gel, which makes them gentle and non- abrasive to the digestive tract.
FOC (Fructooligosaccharides) is the third type of fiber. A chain of fructose sugars with a unique purpose, FOCs feed the beneficial bacteria in your pet’s large intestine. A thriving beneficial bacteria colony provides a good defense against harmful bacteria, and supports your pet’s overall good health. And because your pets don’t digest these extra sugars, their glucose levels don’t go up.
Our standard Young Again cat food includes a combination of tomato pomace for crude fiber, psyllium for soluble fiber, and FOS. Our special formula is proven to provide high digestibility, excellent stool quality, and healthy gut flora.
Our ZERO cat food formula, which replaces digestible carbohydrates and starch with guar gum, was specifically created for diabetic cats. Because guar gum lowers LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels and increases glucose tolerance, it can be beneficial for all cats.
Young Again dog food uses three fiber sources: cellulose (crude fiber), tomato pomace (crude and soluble fiber), and FOS. Because dogs are omnivores, they thrive on a diet based on the cell wall crude fiber commonly found in vegetables and other fibrous products.
Young Again pet food formulas reflect years of diligent research and testing to provide your pets with healthy, premium foods.
